Flowers
: softball to volleyball sized umbel of red flowers. Dozens of narrow petaled flowers and stamens give a pincushion appearance.

Foliage: broad, rounded basal leaves with mottled undersides

Culture
: part sun to full shade in well drained, fertile soil. Fertilize regularly. Bulbs resent disturbance and may sulk after division.
