This a thoughtful movie that is not just about good guys and bad guys. There was nuisance on both sides of the conflict; and there were plot twists throughout. Don Cheadle was excellent. The supporting cast also fantastic.

Everyone knows you have to suspend belief when you go to the movies, but most action movies ask too much. One person cannot beat up ten, even if they all wait around to fight one on one. The G.I. Joe gun fights (where everyone is shooting but no one gets hurt) are the worst. Traitor is a fictional movie, but it avoids many of those old, tired devices.

I especially enjoyed the interpersonal relationships in this movie. Great actors, good dialogue, and a quick moving plot will always win me over. Throw in some current politiical issues and some scenes of Chicago and you've got our vote.

We haven't seen Slum Dog Millionare yet; but from what's being said, it probably fits with both of our selections.

scene from the visitor

Left: 2nd Place winner - The Visitor. A drama that follows a man's dull life as it quickly spices up following an unexpected meeting with some visitors in his apartment. A refreshing change from typical box office movies.

A very different movie from Traitor, but what makes it great is the same: good actors, great dialogue, substance, quick moving plot, and current political issues.

Everyone in this movie as likable, a rare feat. The situation was tangible and the pain was palpable. Like Traitor the ending is not so much happy as realistic.
